when do you actually start paying for things, rather than planning, for ex if you go to the flower shop pick out your centerpieces, do you make a deposit or pay in full right there? speaking as someone who would isnt extremely rich and ready to throw down money at any second....so like when do you start really dishing out the cash about a year before the wedding? or just a few months before the event and everything is ready?
When do you have to pay for your wedding?
you generally have to leave a deposit when you order and then pay in full around 2 weeks to 2 days before the wedding. Usually the amout of deposit you have to put down depends on the total bill. But yes, as soon as you start ordering things, you will have to start paying.
Reply:The people will tell you what their policy is on payment but generally you are going to have to leave a sizable deposit
on everything and most of it will need to be paid in full prior to the actuall wedding.
Reply:not sure. I always saved the money for a real nice trip, or down payment on a home instead of throwing out 10, 000 bucks for one day event. I found my home for both of us lasted longer.
Which means, we went to the JP instead and still got allot of house warming gifts.
Reply:Depends, you can put deposits down on many things a year in advance. We're getting married in August...We put a deposit down on the reception site back in September, the remaining balance can be paid between now and the night before the wedding. Also got the ceremony site secure with a down payment in September and just paid it off. The tux's we put money down on a week ago...Just put a deposit for the DJ and don't have to pay the balance until he shows up at the wedding. So you can always ask many people take deposits that way they know you will use their services and you know that you have secured them and they won't come back at you with 'I'm sorry we are booked'
Reply:Everyone and everywhere has a different policy. Be prepared to put down a deposit on everything to reserve the date. For instance, the caterer, photographer, travel agent for the honeymoon and venues will need deposits. Then you generally pay the rest about a month before the wedding. However, you can pay it all in full whenever you want. Just make sure you have a written agreement for everything and be sure of the individual policies of each company. Hope this helps!
Reply:It really all depends on the vendors that you are dealing with. Some will require 1/2 the total amount for a deposit, others might require $100.00-$150.00 deposit. I know most of the time when you go to order your wedding dress they want you to put down at least half.
I have found that many of my payments are coming 2 months or less before the ceremony. But again, it depends on your vendors.
best thing to do is call around, get some prices, then ask what they want as a deposit...some people may surprise you.
Good luck
