during hurricane season, you will get arrested for charging more than market value for supplies(i.e. plywood,batteries...etc) but during the week or so surrounding Valentine's day...flower shops raise prices on roses by 5x? Wal-mart can't guage you when you want to buy the latest"got to have it" toy at christmas...
Why is it legal to price guage during Valentine's day week, but illegal the rest of the time?
It's a good question, but I guess the answer is that flowers aren't a necessity.
Reply:Price gouging is illegal and irreprehensible on necessities in a disaster.
Gouging in a holiday is entreprising, but may convince you to shop elsewhere. So not gouging might bring you in extra business. Not all are gouging, you must be a bad shopper.
Reply:Its not price gaugeing its supply and demand. Like why is swim wear so cheap in the winter and is so much in the summer its just Economics
Reply:I think most flower shops are privatly owned. And allowed to price how they want... I think.
Reply:dont buy them then get her somthing else or wait and celibrate it next week i mean you wont die if you dont get them will you after they are just flowers and will be dead in a week you are absolutly right its un fair we should boycot valentines day. and have it one week later boy that would throw all those flower shops for a loop.
Reply:The excuse they use (which may be slightly accuate) is that flowers especially roses are in high demand this week therefore you have to pay more to get some.
Reply:why would they do that when their making a killing any way.so no i don't think that happen.roses cost the same every where.
Reply:I know and it sucksss but u gotta deal.thats the way the worls works.
Reply:Because flowers and candies are not necessities for survival. (but you better get her some or she will kill you)
Reply:demand-supply.
on that day demand is high for roses, supply is same, so prices go up
Reply:thats when stupid people buy gifts for their valentines because they think they have to. Stores are smart, they know there are a lot of suckers out there.
