I COULD probably get one from the flower shop nearby...but I would much rather have a bigger and better selection to choose from. Therefore I want to get mine from Petsmart or Petco in Idaho Falls 2 hours away. And yes before anyone asks, I am aware that I need to go promptly home after I pick him up.
Any advice as to how to safely transport him from Point A to Point B?
I've heard about using a cooler (not a cold one) to place the bag or cup in. I have a small one. Would that work?
Transporting a Betta in the car?
Sure, a cooler is a great way to get it home safely. A betta in a fair size bag with a little water and lots of air can easily live for 2-3 days, so you have nothing to fear in that regard. (that's exactly how they get to the store) Just take the cooler in the store with you so it's not all cold when you come out.

Reply:Go to the pet store, Petsmart or Petco, they have a carriers. Little plastic carriers. The fish can't survivi in a bag on a two hour trip
Reply:As long as the temperature in the car doesn't get too hot or too cold it should be fine in your cup holder.
Reply:He will be fine if they put him i a breather bag, although you may have to buy one yourself and have them bag him in that, just to make sure he get enough air
Reply:A small cooler is perfect. It will maintain the betta's temperature. Make sure you let them know at the pet store that you have a ways to drive so they will use a big bag so there will be lots of air.
