MATHS help?
The ratio of the number of orchids to the number of roses in a flower shop is 4:1.after selling 920 orchids and 20 roses there were twice as many roses as orchids lift in the shop. How many orchids were there in the shop? PLessh help!
MATHS help?
x=orchids, y=roses
x=4y
After selling 920 orchids and 20 roses
x-920 and y-20
Twice as many ROSES as orchids
2(x-920)=y-20
2x-1840=y-20
Substitute x=4y
8y-1840=y-20
7y=1820
y=260 roses orginally
x=260*4=1040 orchids originally
1040-920=120 orchids left
Reply:let the no. of orchids be x
let the no. of roses be y
x/y = 4/1
x = 4y --------------------equation (1)
after selling 920 orchids and 20 roses
no. of orchids = x-920
no. of roses = y-20
no. of orchids = twice no. of roses
x-920 = 2(y-20)
x-920 = 2y-40
4y-920 = 2y - 40
2y = 880
y= 440
no. of orchids = x = 4y = 4 * 440 = 1760 orchids
this is the easiest method to solve this one..read it im sure u'l understand

How many days of gloomy/rainy/heavy clouds/cold can you take before the weather affects your mood?
I want to be out working in my flower gardens so much. Hate being cooped up inside and a person can't go shopping all the time.

How did a guy I met through an internet dating site find me I never gave him the town I was living in?
I met an guy over 1 year ago through a dating site, we have been emailing one another for about 10 months. I never told him the true city I live in, but the true stat and I Never told him my real name !. He lives in Tulsa Oklahoma. Also when we met on the dating site my picture was posted and his wasn't but I enjoyed talking to him and he promise to send a picture , he never has, but says soon, (right). We have never talked on the phone and I made sure not to disclose any personal information, but I did tell him a few times I go walking on the seawall and I live near Houston. Well, today is my birthday ( never told borth year) and I receive an email from him, that I have flowers waiting for me at a local flower shop and he says he hopes I live in or near that city. Yes I can the florist and the flowers and gifts are there. Should I be afraid , during the couse of us emailing he seem to be ok...but now I'm worried . How did he find me with such little information
How did a guy I met through an internet dating site find me I never gave him the town I was living in?
"go walking on the seawall and I live near Houston."
How many bodies of water are really anywhere near Houston?
Probably just deduction, hopefully he isn't a stalker and just a harmless guy with a sincere crush on you.
Reply:You should be glad he is not an idiot and he was able to put 2 and 2 together and pick a near by shop based on the fact that you live near Houston and take walks on the seawall. also you said that he said that he hopes you live near that shop which means that he was just making an educated guess. you don't have anything to worry about unless he shows up at your house, but then it will be too late.
Reply:that is scary...could he have gotten from the dating website some kind of way?
Reply:you'd be surprised what you can accomplish on the internet nowadays. For about ten bucks, I can find you by your last name and first name, and the process of elimination.
Reply:Honestly it isn't very hard to find out, there are way to many ways to list.
What you should hope for is that he was actually paying attention to the things you said and pieced it together over time through various little things you said (possible since you have been talking for so long), as opposed to going searching for you on the internet (Creepy)
All in all, if he sent flowers on your birthday to a local flower shop, I would assume that hes not an insane stalker, (Aka 10 months of talking should let you know of what his personality is like) and just likes you and was trying to surprise you.
I do not know your personal history or the things you said, but do not be to quick to freak out ;). I would suggest that you just ask him, and odds are he will tell you what it was you said that he remembered.
Reply:There are places on the internet where you can type in some info and it will show you some things that can help with a search!
In your case, i think you should not converse with this person any more, change your e-mail address, tell your parents about it, and do not go to meet him!
Haven't you been watching that program on TV, where the TV program has a fake young girl who contacts some guy, then he is invited to a certain address, When he shows up, with sex toys, and other things, he's arrested and charged! there are all types of crackpots out there preying on young girls, with just the method that guy used to find you!
Beware--beware--tell your folks, don't fall for his wiles!
Those types of people use e-mail and the internet to further their games, so don't go to pick up the flowers, because he'll know to further his search, and might even find your home, and all he'll have to do is watch and wait, until you're home alone, then he'll swoop in, and you won't be able to defend yerself,!
He might even have told the flower shop to call him when you go to pick up the flowers, and they may have called him when you called to inquire if they were there1 See how easy it is, if ya aren't very careful??

I had a coworker who was meeting women online through E-Harmony and only telling them he was "fat."
True indeed.
He weighed a good 450-plus and bathed rarely.
Overweight isn't the only problem someone could present, but people should like the looks of their potential mates/dates.
Take your photo down and don't show it to any guys who have not ostensibly shown you theirs first. And don't lie any more.
Reply:Do you have any personal information on your email? If it was your personal email acct you used to email him, it could have come with your name on it. He didn't just pull the information out of the air. The dating site won't devulge any information so it's not them. I would be worried too, have you thought about asking him where he got the information? Or you could just say that you never received the flowers %26amp; gift, that way he won't be sure he has the right address.
Reply:Baby, If he hasn't done anything by now, chances r he won't, its been 2 long 4 that and he would of already made his move if he really wanted 2 rape or even kill u, don't u think. Probably pulled up google earth. Punched in Houston, and then looked for seawall areas. And kept his fingers crossed and guessed.
How bout, you've been talking to him for 10 months, call him on the phone for crying out loud and thank him profusely for caring enough to even TRY and send you flowers.
Yep, and could have just typed in your last name into the white pages and kept his fingers crossed. which is why he picked one out and said he hoped.

Would you rather remember your deceased loved ones as they were when they were alive or as they were when dead
I was just wondering, because I was thinking of an elderly lady I once knew who owned a flower shop. One of her husbands had died back in the 1950s when a tractor fell on him and crushed him. And she always had old black and white photos of him lying in his coffin on display in her flower shop for all to see. I remember that six years ago, when my grandmother died, it didn't even seem as though she was there when I attended her funeral. I remember seeing her lying in her coffin, but her body just looked like the empty shell that it now was. My mom has pictures of her from when she was alive, and I prefer to think of my grandma as being alive and with a smile on her face than as a corpse that bears no resemblance to her when she was alive. What do you think?
Would you rather remember your deceased loved ones as they were when they were alive or as they were when dead
Wow, that's an interesting story. I guess it's a personal choice, but I would think that's kind of morbid.
I have disturbing images in my head of my mother in the last 2 weeks of her life, and when she was dead. That was exactly 2 yrs. ago. But I prefer to think of her when she was alive, vital %26amp; healthy, w/ a smile that could light up a room. I picture her doing something she really loved, like volunteer work, gardening, entertaining guests %26amp; uncorking a bottle of wine. She really sparkled. *sniffles*
Reply:I prefer to remember them as they were when they were alive!!
Reply:I would rather remember them alive and of all the good times we shared
Reply:I agree, I would rather remember them as they were when they were alive.
Reply:A friend of mine have pictures of some of her relatives in their coffins. It kind of creeps me out. I would rather remember them when they were alive...their spirit.
Reply:Alive. I think that funeral pictures are morbidly not needed. I once went to Boston and visited this Victorian house/museum. In the Victorian days they would have these grand photos taken of the dead person posed. It really weirded me out. The person would be sitting upright dead in this professional photo as if they were alive. My mom has a picture of my dead grandfather that I only knew as an infant and I can never think of him in any other way since I've seen that photo. It has strangely scarred me.
Reply:That's exactly why I want to be cremated...I do not want people looking at my dead, lifeless body laying in a box! I want to be remembered as the funny lively person that I am...
Reply:I HAVE PICTURES OF MY GRANDMOTHER BEFORE AND AFTER
I WOULD PREFER TO REMEMBER HER IN BOTH WAYS
Reply:alive and I think taking pictures of people in their coffin is just bizarre but live and let live, no pun intended.
Reply:I agree with you. I'd rather remember them alive. My favorite pics of Maman and Daddy are in the kitchen at the house, with their dog...Daddy just loved that silly thing, and taught it all sorts of tricks. (Pomeranian). Daddy asked me to take pictures of Maman at her funeral, but I think it was less a memory thing than to remind himself she was gone and he was safe! She was MEAN when she was sick, and he took care of her as long as he could.

What is being a tattoo artist like? how did you or someone you know start out? i wold LOVE to be one!?
I LOVE art and drawing. i think being a tattoo artist would be the best job! (even though i dont have any tattoos of my own yet) how do you start out? Just get a job at a tattoo/body piercing shop? and get tot know the people and see if you can have an apprenticsship with them. i know its a long shot. but for all the tattoo artists out ther i would love to draw and create beautiful art on people. a few peopel already have flowers tattooed on them that i drew out for them... lol I have all of the basic art classes and im taking in life drawing (nude) class right now and love it. =]
what was youe experience as staring out as an artist? how do you like it? is the pay well?
thanks for yoru input!

I would love to be a tattoo artist as well. Unfortunately I only excel in stick figure drawings. I could learn piercing though, I have very steady hands........
Reply:it takes Meany years of practice to make this come true for a person to become a tattoo artist, you need to be a great artist and be able to draw things just to the right touch.
you need to pass a test like OSHA and other things like coloring and makeup and Meany other things as well.
I do have a friend that does this and went to school to learn to get deeper in drawing and makeup.
things like high lighting and coloring is a big part of it and learning about the skin is a bigger part too.
hope this helps you to your new way of thinking of becoming a tattoo artist.
good luck

Reply:I have one friend who is self tought, and I wear his firsr ink proudly on my chest! Wel he is now apprintceing with a shop over by his home. and One of my other buddys just started hanging out at a shop, and evently got a job just takeing out the trash and stocking there clothing. After about year of doing this parttime, he was looking at getting a new tat, and when the artist truned his head my buddy asked if he could do some of his own fill work, well that lead to him getting an apprintice postion.
Reply:to finally answer your actual question, no you cannot just start doing drawings for them or sweeping up and poof you are an apprentice. if your local shop is 40 minutes away, it may be wise to move closer, if you are serious about tattooing. you will be likely to spend almost two years at the shop open to close. not making any money. actually paying them. it can cost anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 bucks. i am sure you get what you pay for. but i have seen people pay 5,000 for an apprenticeship upfront and then the guy got fired and left town with this kids money. so be careful. eventually you will have to buy your own equipment. your mentor can stear you in the right direction as far as what is crap and what is pro. don't skimp on your tools. any artist/craftsman will tell you that. and unless you make this your life it will always be nothing more than a hobby. get serious or get out.
Reply:find a local shop ask for a job doing anything then when you get to know some of the tatto artists ask if any of them would be wiling to train you or take you on as an apprentice
Reply:My brother trained at art college for 4 years, started out as a portrait artist, then got side-tracked into being a sign writer, all the fancy stuff. He got a tattoo and became interested so much that he spent near enough £2000 on equipment to start up. He practiced on grapefruit before tattooing himself, family and friends for free. Word soon got around and he's quite busy now, as a mobile tattooist. I think the pay is something like £50 per hour. Good luck
Reply:that seems like an interesting job.
Reply:Being a tattoo artist is a very rewarding job as an artist. Alot of times (and you have experienced it already) you get to see your own ideas on somebody's body PERMANENTLY! But there are the risks involved, you could mess it up, you need to be sterile as humanly possible, and there are slow times.
Starting out? Most of us get an apprenticeship. I know it was a total pain in the butt because it is a trade that isn't just thrown out to anyone. I was denied alot before I someone took me on. And it sucked! I didn't ever think I was actually ever going to get to do a tattoo. That was over 10 years ago though so things have changed some since then. There are artists out there that self taught themselves. I know a few and they are great artists. But it took them a long time and it was very difficult for them. And unfortunately alot of people have to endure wearing bad work on thier body. Good luck

I need help with the sims 2! PLEASE HELP!?
I just bought the sims 2 open for business to go with my nightlife and seasons, but i don't understand many things.
to have a store with cakes, etc, you can put either a birthday cake or a wedding cake from buy now in your store-and thats it. but how do your sims create a custom cake? just to make this clear, you can only have the following kind of stores: flower shop, clothing store, dessert shop, restaurants, and toy stores, correct?
I need help with the sims 2! PLEASE HELP!?
Correct!!
To get more cakes, you need to make your sim actually bake some. Click on the fridge, and then make group meal and take your pick!!
Enjoy!

They haven't had a good one in a while. At one point, everyone had one: Carlito's Cabana, Christian's Peep Show, Jericho's Highlight Reel...

Costs of roses?
I want to get a bunch of roses for my wedding, however, I don't plan on telling the flower shop that they are for a wedding. How much approx would one rose cost? I live in a smallish town area where it's not NYC prices here...
Costs of roses?
The best place to get accurate regional prices is the local boards at http://talk.theknot.com . Prices vary so much depending on where you are. One "smallish town" may be more expensive than another "smallish town", and even in the same town prices will vary from one florist to another.
In general though, roses are actually one of the least expensive flowers you can buy, contrary to popular belief.
Reply:If you're looking to make your own bouquets and just need roses in bulk, try a price club, like Sam's club. They have excellent prices on roses.
Reply:my parents own i flower shop and around a bouquet of roses in a vase is around $54 but wrapped up its around $35 for a dozen
Reply:At a florist, you could spend around $4/bloom. We got most of our roses through Costco, and paid really low prices. We had something like 40 dozen for under $1000. I would definitely recommend using them if there is someone you could work with there to place a custom order. And they were gorgeous. (We used them for my wedding and my little bro's)
Reply:Around here (Bay Area, California) I can get my hands on a bouquet of 12 roses for around $10-$15, so bet on paying around a dollar a piece, although if you're buying bulk (are you just looking to make a bridal bouquet, or are you decorating the room?) and the florist knows that, they're more likely to give you a discount since they know you'll be dropping a lot of dough in their shop.
Reply:Although some vendors try to jack up the cost when you mention the word "wedding", usually flower shops don't. Roses are usually the same price no matter what the purpose is.
Reply:You can sometimes find roses for around 20 a dozen. I did a wedding where we went to the local superstore and asked to order ahead for 12 dozen and we got a deal of 12 dollars a dozen. We never mentioned wedding and they did not ask. The flowers were delivered the day before the wedding and were amazingly fresh and beautiful.
Reply:I don't think it would matter if you told them they were for a wedding or not. I think the higher prices come in when you add the labor of making the bouquets and arrangements. My mom paid $1600 for my flowers but that is for everything. All the arrangements at the church, bouquets, centerpieces, boutineers, petals for the flower girl, cake, corsages, set up, delivery, and to pick up the items from the church. Roses do vary in price locally so I would call around the florists in your area and just ask them how much roses are per stem. I would think between $1-$3 each.

Unproffesional??hubby thinks it good for his practice??
I am a wedding planner/party planner who owns her own flower shop now! and my hubby is a divorce lawyer. Is it some what wrong to have my husbands buisneiss card's on display on top of my desk?I also have bridal stores, jewlery, catering, and a hall cards on my desk?
Unproffesional??hubby thinks it good for his practice??
When your planning a wedding, I don't think a divorce lawyer is the card you want to see. Maybe you should take it out of your shop and leave it at a strip club.
Reply:Tacky and unprofessional of him. This comes from a lawyer.
Reply:Yes it is and very tacky. It's like you're wishing that they break up.
Reply:What is your husband thinking?? Good for his practice? He might as well hand out cards at the county clerk's office when people apply for a marriage license. This would be a BAD idea.
Reply:That's just TACKY!!
Reply:considering your profession having his business cards on your desk is tacky. it sends off the vibe that you want to charge customers a bunch of money to plan their wedding, but that you really want them to break up and hire your husband as their divorce lawyer so he can charge them more money. if you were in any profession unrelated to marriage it would be ok, but beings that your husband is a divorce lawyer it is not really appropriate.
Reply:It is in very poor taste.
Reply:yes it is wrong. Would be like having funeral cards at a hospital
Reply:Might be good for HIS business but not so good for yours. Who wants to use a wedding planner that displays business cards for a divorce lawyer. That's like saying to them 'I don't think your marriage is gonna last but I'd be more than happy to plan your big mistake.'
Reply:Talk about looking desperate! Oh my gosh, I would never admit he was your husband, people would think your all nuts!!!!!! Just reading what you wrote is disgusting!! Sorry!!! Just for that reason, I wouldn't go see your husband for anything!! Know what I mean!!!!!
Reply:GIVE 2 SECONDS OF THOUGHT TO THIS..... DUH!!!
DO YOU REALLY THINK PEOPLE WANT TO SEE A DIVORCE LAWYER'S ADVERTISEMENT WHEN THEY ARE THINKING ABOUT WEDDING BLISS?
Reply:It's a bit awkward. What are you going to say, "hire me now, and then in 10 years you can get a discount for my hubby's services."
Reply:No, but it's funny.

My friends mother passed away?
my daughters best friend' mother and i have an occassionally drink after work and get together occassionally on the weekends. i found out her mother passed away 3 days late!!! as you can see, we dont chat that often and i'm not too close to her family. at this point it seems senseless to take them food, the family has already come and gone. her nephew works at a flower shop so i imagine they had plenty of those. i called her the day i found out to give my condolences, i was actually on my way to visit with her and she just wanted some rest, so i told her, then i would visit her another day. question is - now what? should i visit empty handed?
My friends mother passed away?
Visit and, by all means, do not go empty handed. It's not too late to make a casserole and bring it...or a homemade cake or something. Then, stay and have a piece with her. Offer to make a pot of coffee, too, while you're at it then sit down with her.
In the days surrounding the death of a loved one, it's hard to remember who showed up and who didn't, there's such a flurry of activity and thoughtful gestures. Then the funeral is over, the casseroles served and everyone goes back to their daily life...except for the ones who grieve the most. By all means, visit her....apologize for not hearing of her mother's passing...and then stay with her. Don't be afraid to mention her mother...most of us want to talk about our dearly departed...and we want to know that they made an impact on others besides ourselves.
Reply:no
Reply:No you shouldn't show up empty handed. Show them you care even if it's a card or flowers.
Reply:just offer your sympathy and then offer a shoulder to your daughters friend, let her know that you and her mom shared a little time together and she is welcome at your home.
Reply:BRING SOMETHING! ANYTHING YOU THING THEY WILL LIKE THATS APPROPRIATE FOR THE OCCASION AND SAY YOUR CONDOLENCES AND BE VERY SINCERE!!!
Reply:you dont need a gift but it would help in ur state so if i was u i would go and get like a teddy bear or something... still if that guy works in a flower shop go ahead and get like 3 or so of roses and send them thith the teddy

Taking nothing for granted especially our mother's?
A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away.
As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing.
He asked her what was wrong and she replied, "I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother.
But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars."
The man smiled and said, "Come on in with me. I'll buy you a rose."
He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother's flowers.
As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home.
She said, "Yes, please! You can take me to my mother."
She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave.
The man returned to the flower shop, canceled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother's house.
Taking nothing for granted especially our mother's?
Love your mother. Honor her.
My mother started out well. But, alcoholism took its toll and things went downhill quickly. She died when I was 13. After over 30 years I still sometimes wish I had a mom to honor on Mother's Day.
My wife has been a great mom. I remind my kids of that often and that on Mother's Day and her birthday to do whatever they can to show appreciation (yes, the rest of the year, too).
Reply:Yes that is Roses For Momma ,by Red Sovine. Only I seem to recall her leaving the flower shop and him driving on in his rig, where he passed the local cemetery and saw the boy kneeling by his Mom's grave.
But I agree whole heatedly with your advice, never ever take anything for granted......because no one is promised a tomorrow! This is my second mother's day without my Mom and I would move heaven and hell to be able to hand her flowers instead of placing them on her grave. But now isn't the time for me to get into this, I could definitely loose it this week-end.
God Bless every Mother out there....and please let them know how special they are to you.

Can you write a story for me?
I want to see how many creative minds there are out here in Yahooland. Choose two (or more) items from the list and write a short story about them. I'd like to see someone incorporate all of them, or as many as possible! hehe...
Dinosaurs
Wizards
Flowers
Music
Jewelry
Stamp Collecting
Disney Movies
Board Games
Animals
Jesus
Camping
Life in the 1800's
Computers

Can you write a story for me?
Once upon a time there were 2 DINOSAURS who were best friends. They llived by themselves in a very large garden behind a castle where 2 evil WIZARDS plotted against the King of the land. Although these two dinosaurs were worried about their King, they spent their days eating FLOWERS and playing with butterflies.
One day, they heard strange MUSIC coming from the castle. They quietly approached the windows to take a peak inside. They saw the two Wizards standing around a large box where the music seemed to be coming from. They were both wearing strange, large JEWELRY around their necks and on their arms. The outside of the box was so covered with stamps from the different countries that it passed through, it looked like a STAMP COLLECTING dream! But this was no DISNEY MOVIE, and there was nothing funny about these Wizards.
The Dinosaurs decided to tell the King about this strange behavior. When they got to the King's palace, they found him playing BOARD GAMES with his daughter, the Princess. They told the King of the box, the music and the jewelry. He said that he would send his ANIMAL spies to watch over the Wizards wherever they went.
But the Dinosaurs were worried that wouldn't be enough to keep the King safe. They prayed to JESUS, and Buddha, and Mohammed, and Elvis (they really covered all their bases!) on behalf of the King and the kingdom. They returned to the castle and found that the Wizards had left a note on the door saying that they had gone CAMPING. But these dinosaurs weren't living LIFE IN THE 1800's - they knew better than to believe those Wizards! They snuck into the castle, destroyed the box where the music was coming from.
Thinking they had saved the day, they celebrated with a party in the garden behind the castle.
Two days later, the Wizards returned from their camping trip to find that their box had been destroyed. They came out to the garden and turned their anger onto the Dinosaurs.
"Why did you stomp on our box? Our new COMPUTERS were in there! We decided to give up being evil Wizards and become internet entreprenurs! We bought them from the Home SHOPPING Network and we can't get them replaced! We will punish you both severely for your actions!!"
So the Wizards turned the garden into an amusement park where the Dinosaurs are tethered to a pole and CHILDREN ride on their backs from sunrise to sunset.
The moral of this story: Don't let Dinosaurs live in your garden.

Girls, what colour shoes go well with a pale yellow dress? Besides yellow and white shoes?
The dress is sleeveless and below the knees. Its pale yellow NOT canary yellow. Its a casual dress (with a pale flower print) you would wear to an outdoor event like a picnic etc.
Its casual enough to go shopping in too. What colour shoes or sandals go well with this kind of dress. Thanks
Girls, what colour shoes go well with a pale yellow dress? Besides yellow and white shoes?
Wear some flats or wedges. I can't think of any other colors. If you want to make a statement, wear purple or green shoes.
Reply:RED!
So hot. So in. Can't go wrong with it.
Red pumps, definatly.
Reply:pale blue or pink
Reply:If you have pale skin complexion then I think a #669900 (see colorschemer.com/online).
If you have darker skin complexion then I would recommend #999900.
Reply:youre probably gonna think this is retarded, but i would pick like a bright blue or red
Reply:beige sandels with silver or pale green straps
Reply:RED SHOES!!!
Reply:I'd try a tan/nude/natural color. They'll enlongate the leg and look great with pale yellow. If you want to get them at Nordstrom, there is free shipping this month when you buy a pair of shoes. You can always return them at the store for free if they don't fit. Here are the details:
Reply:Pink, black goes with everything baige navy blue also to make the outfit pop their is always red!!!
Reply:I would go for a light brown (taupe type color). If you go with a shoe like silver, etc., I would go with one more on the gold tone as gold looks better with yellow than silver (my opinion) - a cute little pair of goldish color sandals would be very cute.
Reply:Gold, Silver, Bronze
Reply:a very light green, or the same as the color of the flowers.

I would like to have a woman give my wife a massage for valentines day present,,, at our house?
works at flower shop, and really tired around then,, of course flowers or candy out of question !
have you ever had a massage at your house,, and how do i find someone that, would be right,,
she said this sounds wonderful,,,
do you like the sound of it !!
please give me your input! thanks
I would like to have a woman give my wife a massage for valentines day present,,, at our house?
Your wife is a very lucky woman. Look at the Classified section of your Sunday paper.
Make sure you order 2 people, 1 for your wife and 1 for yourself. Enjoy!
Reply:ITS GREAT!! I used to have a woman come to our house and give us (my husband and I) a massage. She brought the massage table, music, oil and everything...it was really amazing. Your wife will love it.
As how to find someone...we heard of her by mouth to ear....she worked at a local spa/gym and was willing to come to houses. Ask around.
Reply:It is a nice idea but I think you have ulterior motives b/c u are so adament on having a woman ( mayb' though you are just more comfortable w/ a woman doing it; I'll give you the benefit of the doubt). Anyway, do a search on the web for LCMT ( Licensed Clinical Massage Therapist Or LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) or masseuse, contact a local Chiropractor ( many of them have in house masseuses), in your area. HAPPY V -DAY!!!
Reply:i don't know call around and ask .look in the phone book it sounds good to me good luck and she is lucky my hubby is gone out to sea on valentines day i wish we could be together but that's his job !
Reply:I would love for my husband to think of something like that for Valentine's Day. She is a lucky woman!
Reply:That would be great!! As long as you are not having some fantasy about it!! haha I think it is fine
Reply:Just call around at all the spas. I am sure someone will know of a person who will do that. The only negative would be the security issue. Alot would be afraid to go alone.
Reply:It's a wonderful idea that will be truly appreciated by your wife. I am a massage therapist who often does home visits. Ring around a few massage therapy clinics (avoid massage parlours!) and ask if they have home visits rates (as well as checking if their therapists are properly qualified). You will probably be able to purchase a gift voucher for your wife. A professional MT (massage therapist) will want to do a general health history form before commencing the treatment and will also be able to treat general aches and pains and muscle stiffness. You have a very lucky wife to have such a considerate husband :)

Rephrase this paragraph?
Eliza is portrayed by Shaw as an innocent dreamer. She is determined in a kind way; the reader sees this when she tries eagerly to sell to the gentleman without change. It becomes apparent that she is very poor, and needs success from her flower selling to live a life at all. Eliza shows great pride in her line of work, and that she stays above the law, not resorting to illegal prostitution or stealing. The introduction of Higgins taking down Eliza's speech gives the author a further chance to display Eliza's motivation to stay innocent and good. Another way that Shaw shows us the real Eliza is in the way that she starts crawling over the dirty ground to locate the “money thrown down at her by Higgins.” (page 12) The way that Eliza is so very grateful indicates her real kindness and simple mission to live any sort of life. She now realizes that she can ask Mr. Higgins to help her fulfill her dream and become a lady in a flower shop: an occupation for which she is not visually or phonet

Please!!! help me with this word problem...how do i do it?
Deborah bought some roses and carnations at a local flower shop. Carnations cost $3.50 each and roses cost $5.50 each. The total cost of 12 flowers is $52.00. How many roses and how many carnations did Deborah buy?
Please!!! help me with this word problem...how do i do it?
Let's say R = Roses and C = Carnations. The problem tells you that R + C = 12 flowers total.
Now, if you have two unsolved elements, R and C, you can't solve the equation. So, you have to re-arrange the two unsolved elements into one unsolved element. How? Well, let's say you're going to solve C. Then, another way to look at R is to re-arrange the R + C = 12 into R = 12 - C. So, now you have (12 - C) + C = 12. (That's exactly the same as R + C = 12).
So, now you can create an equation to solve for C:
(3.50 x (12 - C)) + (5.50 x C) = 52.00
42 - 3.50C + 5.50C = 52.00
2C = 10
C = 5
You've solved C. Now you can solve for R, which is 12 - C.

What is a good gift to bring to an "Open House" for a new eatery (sandwich shop)?
Our friend is opening a breakfast/lunch eatery and has invited us to the open house. We would like to present a gift of some kind along with our good luck wishes, but can't think of anything other than flowers or a plant. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
What is a good gift to bring to an "Open House" for a new eatery (sandwich shop)?
A small goldfish bowl. set it up nicely with pebbles, water plants and two or three goldfish. It brings good luck and harmony.
Reply:to tell you the truth, that's about all i can think of too. i mean, it's not like you can get a present for the store! and it would be weird to get something for your friends, as if it were their birthday or something...but i suppose one good thing might be a nice bottle of champagne--anything celebratory, i suppose, balloons, etc.
Reply:I reckon a framed poster print. There are some really good old band tour posters you can get so find out what band your friends are into, perhaps.
Reply:How about some type of wall plaque to commemorate her opening.
Reply:buy some kind of fountain to signify the flow of money the place will generate
Reply:That's a tough one, maybe you can get them a gift basket...not so much for the store but for them.

Small business advice... Please help?
I would like to start a small business, but I have no idea where to begin. I am interested in opening a bakery or a flower shop that would family owned and operated. About how much money will I need for start-up? What is the best book that you have read that helped you immensely with starting your own business? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Reply:Step 1 is identifying the type of business you wish to own.
Step 2 is to research that type of business as in depth as you can. I would recommend not only Internet research, but actually interviewing people in similar businesses. I have found that most business owners are more than willing to share their basic business information.
Step 3 is to put together a business plan. In that plan identify your business strengths and weaknesses, your market and your intentions to capture the market, identify income streams and expenses, with that knowledge, prepare an income and expense projection for the next couple of years. When you do that, make notes and comments as to why you thing your numbers are accurate.
With this information you will be ready to seek financing options. Don't think that the lender will borrow you 100% of your operating capital, you will need to have personal cash and assets injected into the business.
Reply:I would highly recommend writing a business plan to refine your idea and turn it into a presentable document. You will need one anyway to secure financing from a bank or lender.
Generally you need enough money to cover all start up expenses (any equipment, raw goods, business license fees, building rent, etc) plus enough cash/credit to cover 3-6 months of operating expenses.
Also, consider working with a small business consultant to help you start your business. There are a lot of details to worry about while starting your own business and a consultant will be able to successfully get your business started.

Reply:There is a book on line called Hurdle: The book on business planning that really helped me and got me excited about my small business. Here is a section that I thought was really awesome:
A business plan is not the most important single requirement for starting a business. Many other things are much more important. For example:
* Customers: The first thing you really need to start a business, maybe even the only thing you really need, is customers. It all starts with at least one customer.
* Customer needs: Your business must fulfill some type of customer need in order to be successful. Sometimes customer needs can be intangible, like security or prestige. Some customer needs seem frivolous, but they still matter. Make sure there is a market for your service or product. Your business will fail if it doesn't address a customer need.
Myths About Starting a Business
It is dangerous to fall in love with the idea of starting your own business without understanding the realities. There are several myths about owning and operating a business that should be avoided at all costs. These common myths cause a lot of problems:
* The myth of "being your own boss": You are not your own boss when you own a business. Your customers are your boss. Your bank is your boss. Your fixed costs are your boss.
* The myth of "independence": Owning a business doesn't make you independent -- not needing money makes you independent. As long as you need money, you can't be independent.
Think it Over
The folklore of business start-ups generally underestimates the risks. Imagine yourself missing mortgage payments when you can't cover your business costs and facing employees when you can't make payroll. Those negative images are also part of business ownership.
Don't go into a business based on the folklore and myths. There are plenty of good reasons to do it. As you start a company, plan ahead. Give yourself the benefit of a real estimate of start-up costs.
* If you can't afford to lose the money, then don't put it at risk.
* If you can't convince somebody else to put up the money, think again about the business you want to start.
Reply:You can get free help (business plan included) using an organization called the Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE). They are just what it says; retired executives who now help up and coming business owners and entrepreneurs develop business plans, find funding/capital and generally guide them through the whole process.
Their website is www.score.org --from there, you can enter your zip code to find your local chapter and someone there will help you from that point on.
Good luck with your business!!

Anyone else not get anything for Valentine's Day?
I got nothing, not even a Happy V Day. Actually, I got a "V's day is pathetic!" from my husband after I told him how sweet it was when I saw all those men lined up in the candy and flower shop stores scrambling at the last minute to get their loved ones something.

Anyone else not get anything for Valentine's Day?
we decided not to get sucked into it all this year, i honestly hate the idea of my man feeling forced into getting cards/flowers just because all the card companies say so, so i told him not to and we had a lovely night with a bottle of wine (or 3 haha).
He often surprises me throughout the year with flowers and gifts when i least expect it, i love it more that way :)
Reply:Me. But my husband didn't get anything either.
Reply:I got the love and affection from my husband I get it everyday! I got material things too but really those are just things. Does your hubby love you? Do you feel loved? IF you do then quit getting upset that you didn't get a box of crap.
Reply:No..I got a ruby and diamond necklace and we went to the movies and had dinner.
Reply:I got some little candies from people at work, but my husband and I used last year's cards. We were both lazy about it.
Reply:I got nothing from my husband.
Reply:I got Bon Jovi tickets and homemade dessert-chocolate covered strawberries. Yum. My fiance is great.
Sorry:(
Reply:I didn't get anything either. It's not the material things that matter, but what hurts is that someone doesn't even take the time to write "Happy Valentine's Day" on a card or at least say it! There's really no excuse for that kind of laziness. If he's really against the whole thing on principal, he should explain that in advance so at least you won't be expecting something and be disappointed. A little communication wouldn't hurt!
Reply:He took me out to lunch, watch a movie, took me shopping and let me choose a gift and he is cooking me dinner tonight. He is so sweet.
Reply:My boyfriend and I agreed not to do anything.
In my opinion, Valentine's Day is just another day. Expressing your love on one day does not make up for the rest of the year.
Reply:I got taken out to lunch and also a E card online that he found for free. hehehehe, but hey it was better than nothing. All he got from me was a new pair of victoria's secret panties that I bought and let him remove. lol.
Reply:Got her wine,stuffed bear,candles,dessert,flowers.
I got a smile in return. Guess it was worth it.
Reply:I understand what you are saying, but "we" don't make a "big deal" out of it either. We show our Love for each other Everyday! We don't need to "buy things" ONE Extra Day each year. Christmas, Anniversary and Birthdays are Plenty.
Reply:Darling, you shouldn't measure how much your husband loves you by the amount of gifts he buys you. I really wish people would stop putting so much into a dumb date on the calender. The 14th of February is just another day of the year %26amp; doesn't mean that you're entitled to a gift. Celebrate your love and relationship EVERYDAY. Small, kind, and sweet gestures should really be enough: a back rub, a sweet note written in dry erase marker that's waiting on your mirror when you get out of the shower, cleaning up after himself, telling you how beautiful you are.....
Learn to appreciate the little things. Those dumb material things on valentines day really aren't that important. Do you really need a pink teddy bear that says "I love you" on its belly to prove to yourself that your husband really does love you?
Now, if he's not a good husband every other day of the year....then yeah, you've got room to complain, hehe.
Smile...I'm sure your hubby loves you a lot. Don't put so much pressure on him for a silly holiday. :)
Reply:My husbands B-Day is 2 days before V-day ... I NEVER get anything!!
Reply:Me!
But then again, I would rather give that receive.
Reply:nothing
Reply:No.....I got a doz red roses, a cute teddy bear and a Happy V-Day Balloon, a book about observations of true Love (so sweet) and a HUGE box of chocolates in a red velvet keepsake box....I spent the better part of the day baking and decorating heart shaped sugar free cookies (he's diabetic %26amp; I'm a retired professional baker-what a combo lol) for him ( I had already purchased sugar free chocolates for him)..and I sent a custom made e-mail card to him (he's a DBA with a multi-international accounting firm)....then when he got home from work we got all dressed up and went to Olive Garden for dinner...then back home we snuggled on the sofa eating the cookies and taking sips of Bailey's on the rocks with a splash of Godiva liqueur, and reading the book he gave me......and there's more but that's for him and me to know and all you guys to wonder about lol....not bad for two middle aged ol'farts (57 %26amp;54) lol.......

Jobs for 16 year olds?
It's time for me to get my first job but i'm not sure were to go.I can't work the cash register cause i'm not that good at math, but I can work with pepole.I was thinking starbucks,a local flower shop or petsmart. Please help my mom is freakin' bugging me about it!
Jobs for 16 year olds?
Most jobs where you work with people will also require you to use a cash register. The new computerized registers dont require great math skills. They will tell you how much change to give the customer. Small local businesses are good because they are not extremely busy most days and you will not be pressured handling money while a crowd waits.
Reply:now a days a cash register gives you the total of what is due back to the customer so you could do it. anyplace that interests you would be a good place for you to try.
Reply:You can try: Target, Walmart,Icing by claires,Claires,or JcPEnny. GOod luck on finding a job. HAve a good day ,bye.
Reply:Starbucks, floral shops, PetSmart or any retailer will probably require that you use a cash register. Check around with local business offices~maybe they could use someone a few hours a week to help with filing, how about bagging at a grocery? Talk with your school counselor.
He or she might have some suggestions or maybe even know of some creative jobs in your community....maybe even right there at the school!

More Sightings of the Filipino Wit.....?
The Philippines is full of wordplay. The local accent, in which F and P are fairly interchangeable, is often used very cleverly, such as at the flower shop in Diliman called Petal Attraction.
Much of the wordplay in the Philippines is deliberate, with retailers favouring witty names, often based on Western celebrities and movies - e.g., a bread shop called Anita Bakery, a 24-hour restaurant called Doris Day and Night, a garment shop called Elizabeth Tailoring and a hairdresser called Felix The Cut.
Smart travellers can decipher initially baffling signs by simply trying out a Taglish (Tagalog-English) accent, such as that used on a sign at a restaurant in Cebu : "We Hab Sop-Drink In Can An In Batol." A sewing accessories shop called Beads And Pieces also makes use of the local accent.

Who has it easier in life, men or women? Why?
I think women do. I know they argue periods, having children, and other biological impediments, but those are hardly occuring events. Overall, on a day-to-day, I think they live oh-so-cushy!
For example, my mom was a doctor, did it until 42, quit, and works at a flower shop. She just socializes all day with no stress while my dad busts his hump.
Secondly, my sister (she's a nasty wench to me) who is presumed attractive by men, picks her potential husbands based on success at work. She has a masters but plans to marry her now bf, pump out some kids, and then chill the rest of her life by doing brunch with her friends and shopping while her husband busts his butt too.
I moved to NYC and have been dating and the women her are just like my mom/sister. It's ridiculus.
I wish I could just marry a rich women and chill the rest of my life. The real killer is that they will further the fun throughout retirement as well. Life is just more fun for women!
Who has it easier in life, men or women? Why?
I agree with you.
Women are given equality in everything. But many of them still try to manipulate men into paying their way. Women have alot of options when it comes to bailing out of the workforce. They can get men, family, and government to throw in for their support. It seems like they work just for fun. I have known successful and well educated women that look at men as an early retirement plan.
The women spend their days at the mall with the kids while the men are working. When the man gets home from a long day at work he will have to help care for the kids and clean and cook. He may be asked to spend most of his weekends with the kids so that mom gets a break and then its back to work on Monday. Then she will compain about her man, leave him, take his kids, house, money and go and live off of another man and still get help from family, goverment etc.
Reply:Women have it easier. The questioner is correct!
Reply:Considering that men are the ones who have trouble living independently, as they were only conditioned for the workforce and not the domestic front, I'd say they're getting hit pretty hard. Still, in the workforce and the political sphere, they have more freedom than women. It's not a black-and-white question.

Too much humidity makes my windows fogged, help ???
Hello,
I work in a flower shop and there are obviously lots of fresh flowers and plants.
Due to recent low temperatures, my inside windows are constantly fogged.
Until now, I used heaters to "clean" the windows but it works temporary.
ANY GOOD IDEA TO ELIMINATE HUMIDITY????
Thank you
Too much humidity makes my windows fogged, help ???
Typically good ventilation (opening windows, maybe a fan) takes care of fogged windows, however in your situation that may require too much ventilation. Also you need to get (dry) air from outside for this to work.
A longer term solution would be to use double paned windows (two layers of glass, or even three), but that would take some time to install, and would take some investment (however over time you safe money with lower heating and cooling bills).
Another thing you can do is go to an autoparts store and see if they have any products for this (anti-fog for windshield).
Scuba diving retailers also sell defogging solutions, but their glass is a lot smaller then yours, so this may be expensive (try a small part of your window first).
Reply:This is tough since it is your product that is creating the humidity in the first place. So, how do you eliminate the humidity without killing the product? My suggestion, since this appears to be a temporary situation caused by low temperatures, is to squeegee the windows from time to time until the temperatures rise. Alternatively, you might try using a small heater located at the bottom of the window. Heat rising right next to the window might do the trick.

What should I do about this job?
There are 4 of us working at a flower shop and the owner has given her friend the managerial position. The problem is, she doesn't know squat about the flower business as far as actually doing the work.
There is a lot of animosity among the employees, and there are some that really resent this new appointment.
I don't, but others are coming to me with their problems....I don't need to hear them....as I have my own problems to deal with.
One elderly woman has tried to befriend me. She and the new manager were once good friends and she feels as though we have all betrayed her.
I keep telling her that everything is ok...but she says that she is hearing things from the other workers telling her that I am bad mouthing her, even though I am not.
She says that people are telling our boss things that we talk about privately. I know that this is not case.
Could our workplace be bugged...and what should we look for if it is?
What should I do about this job?
how do you know the old woman is telling the truth? in most work places you'll find people that gossip and/or lie. it may do no good for your job but rise above such churlish behavior. it's good for your soul.

Should I stay in school?
I dont know if I should stay in school.. I know I like my program ( accountant) but sometimes I wonder if I will be able to do it I find it hard sometimes. Then also I might be pregnant, and very excited. If I dont stay in school I will have to stay this flower shop and I dont like it as much as I did... I wake up at 5:00 am to be at school.. I am sooo confused what should I do...
Should I stay in school?
Everyone thinks about quitting. People who finish are those who do not quit. Stay the course.
Reply:I just had this conversation with my son. The older you get, the more commitments (baby?) you have; the more commitments you have, the less likely you are to go back to school. At least finish your undergrad degree, then think about graduate later.
Reply:Yes, stay in school. I don't know what the situation is between you and the father of the baby but, I assume he isn't in the picture. If that is the case being a single mom is going to be tough. With a baby on the way it will get tougher to go to school later. You will need the schooling to get yourself a better job.
Reply:It is best to stay in school.there are classes that are harder then others.see if someone in your class is willing to help you.stay in school it will be worht it later on.
Reply:As some one who left high school 10 years ago, I've had a very long time to observe how the odds are stacked against those with less of an education then others.Stay in school if not for your self, then so that your children are more likely to stick with it when it gets to tough.
Reply:Stay in school
Reply:stay in school at all cost
Reply:Hang in there and finish school, you will be way better off in the future for you and your baby!
Reply:Stay in school. Please. It will be better for you and also your possible child. If you get through college, you have a better shot at getting a good job. I don't know your age, but if you are a teenager, then stay in school, because a great percentage of teenage mothers live in poverty. If you don't like the flower shop, then stay. Overall, though, it is your choice, so do what you feel is right and is going to be better for you and your possible child (keep your child in mind when you choose this as well). I wish I could give you more advice, but I can't. I wish I could give you a number to call or a website, but I can't. Just think very carefully about this.
I wish you the best of luck.
Reply:Find a way to stay in school, it MAY be hard right now, but you will be thankful for it later on.
I just went back to school after nearly 20 years to get my B.S. and now I am workig on my MBA (graduate next year) in Human Resource Mangement!
Yes, it is hard financially, but the doors that it will open will MORE than make up for the 'pain' I am going through now!
Reply:yes
Reply:yes; stay in school.
It's a difficult climb to stop and go back later. You may have to retake courses you're taking now. Also, you can only go so far with a high school diploma.

What do you think of this babtist joke?
a babtist lady became very jealous and felt lowly because all the women in her bible study class had nice mercedes benz's to drive. so she constantly begged and nagged her husband to get her a mercedes until he finally gave in. she was so happy that she drove around town and waved to everyone she knew. at a stoplight downtown, she saw several members of her church walking into a flower shop. she honked, but they didn't notice her, so she got out of the car to go and talk to them, but as she got, out a huge truck drove by and took the door right off of her new car. she got out and started cursing at the truck and running after him. a policeman just happened to be at the intersection and ran over to help the lady, he stopped her and said, "ma'am, ma'am, please calm down, i've already called for an ambulance, you need to lie down, your arm is still attached to the door"..........." i know " she said, " that bastard has my rolex!!"
What do you think of this babtist joke?
Love it

Reply:This is a VERY OLD joke about a lawyer. Did you switch it to a Baptist lady yourself or heard it like this? Is interesting how the same joke takes new life...
Reply:kind of funny for a joke about pretentious, materialistic people, but not sure how it relates to religion, really.

Reply:As a Baptist, I would want to know how I could become as wealthy as a babtist ! LOL Is that another sect that is really good at making money?
Reply:That's not a Baptist joke. Hell, I'm not even sure if I would consider that a joke at all.
Keep trying %26amp; reaching for that stage. Just don't shoot yourself if you never make a living as a comedian.
Reply:It's a pretty cute joke, but I don't understand why you call it a baptist joke. Are they not supposed to drive mercedes or own a rolex? Is is against their religion or something?
Reply:It would be funnier if you spelled Baptist correctly.
Reply:ah...kinda funny...
Baptist...is the correct spelling....
Reply:Hilarious Tony, so funny!

What container plants like a LOT of moisture?
I'm looking to start my first container garden in South Korea, which has monsoon summers.
I have a covered porch, where I was thinking of putting impatiens.
I also have a patio without a roof where I'd like to put some more plants. I don't know what might work here.
I'll appreciate any advice, because I really miss my plants.
Oh, and I haven't found a nursery here to ask. Lots of flower shops, but nothing for landscaping.
Thanks.
What container plants like a LOT of moisture?
Cyperus papyrus, C. alternifolia, C. haspan are water loving plants. Junkus and sweet grass (vanilla smudge) like wet conditions. Also lotus. There are quite a few water loving plants.
Here are some links for water gardens:

Reply:Orchids and ferns.
Impatiens, ivy and spider plants are subject to root rot in the presence of high moisture
Reply:Impatiens are a good choice also spider plants and swedish ivy they also can handle water well,
As to a landscaping place it is probably best to ask a flower vendor they may be able to start you in the right direction...have fun!!

What does a Senior do with another Senior who is causing trouble in a Senior Bldg?
This neighbor has knocked over flower pots full of flowers; turned a recliner and breathing machine on high knowing it bangs and thumps the apt next to her; stands outside the neighbors door and listens; and actually put a shopping cart across the neighbors door so she couldn't get out?
What does a Senior do with another Senior who is causing trouble in a Senior Bldg?
you can write a report and send it to the superintendent of the complex. When these are received they are reviewed and then the people will get a violation and this can result in expulsion from the building. I know this is how it works in our building and several have received warnings and it seems to have worked. We are also encouraged to resolve disputes amongst ourselves. Hope this is some insight for your path to take. She may be over medicating herself and needs intervention.
Reply:This person is awesome!! they're just like me, they hate old people. yay!
Reply:The person is not being mean, she is demented...I know something has to be done, but .... really, this isn't her fauly, she has just lost it. Contact the building manager, he/she will take care of the problem.
Reply:If this is an assisted living community, she should ask for some assistance. This neighbor seems to be having issues of her own, and confronting the neighbor herself would probably make things turn ugly. I'm saddened to know that older doesn't mean wiser, and people always have problems dealing with eachother.
Reply:maybe shes lonely, invite her over for a card game or something. she might just need a friend.
Reply:Isn't there someone who sees to the tenants in the building? This problem needs to be addressed so that all tenants are treated equally. The cart across the door is fire hazard and must not be tolerated. I would call the super pronto.
Reply:there has to be a tennants committee (or something like it) I would raise it then.
Reply:Report it to the Body Corporate, if you are all in a complex, and own your units.
Don't know what you call the Body Corporate in your country.
But there are Organisations that deal with this type of harassment. Get in touch with them.
And spend some time with her, letting her know that not all people are mean.
Reply:Is there a state run organization for seniors, perhaps the department of social services. Perhaps she needs some sort of help or has a form of dementia. Maybe someone should go out and see her and see if there is something that can be done to bring peace to the building residents.
Reply:Ask building management to look into it. She could need help (literally, if her breathing machine is on high). It sounds as if she might have, at the very least, a touch of dementia. Building management should be able to contact her family and/or family doctor.
